Jasper has crossed the rainbow bridge.

He had started eating. It was looking up. Dental procedure was scheduled I had hope.

Then he lost interest entirely. In food, in drink.

So we said our goodbyes and drove to Blue Pearl.

Like Miso. He will be part of the coral reef helping coral grow in the Atlantic Ocean. My beloved oceans that surround me.

He just stood in his water dish. Not drinking. Just all paws in the dish.

Heart murmur, kidney disease, arthritis in his spine, possible tumor/nodule between heart and lung, hyperthyroidism.

So much was against him.

And yet my child is dead and I can't see the words on the screen.

About The Man Without Desire (1923): This film has it all! Rococo, death, suspended animation via magic, people being the clones of their ancestors, a man being a fish out of water for five in-world minutes, erectile disfunction. Yet! It never goes all the way (and I'm bummed about it).

I would say this was a weird metaphor for comphet while being gay, but Novello was never really in the closet. And I'm talking about Novello less because he starred in the movie and mote because he was one of the producers.

(I would have said this was a metaphor for asexuality, but Vittorio, the man without desire himself, dies at the end. ED, comphet or asexuality, any lens you look at this movie through, is yikes.)

We're coming to the time of year when

3weeks4dreamwidth usually runs, and

goodbyebird posted an interest check post in the community to see if folks were interested in doing it and what their plans might be for it.

I will be posting an updated list of my community recs post. The last time I posted it was in January for

snowflake_challenge, but I've stealth added a few more since then. I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for good communities, so if you know of any and want to see it added to the list, let me know!

I also am giving some thoughts to posting daily during the duration, but I'd need something to post about. I'm considering the following:

1. one creative thing I did today
2. one thing I'm proud of today
3. video game progress? I play video games daily, so that would be something easy I could do

It's the time of night when I turn into a sack of goo, so I have no brain for anything else at the moment. Guess I'd better brush my teeth and go to bed.

Reading

I finished reading We Need Your Art by Amie McNee. I... can't say I really enjoyed it or found it helpful. I think perhaps my expectations were too high? Idk, I just didn't relate to really anything she was talking about.
I started rereading Mister Monday by Garth Nix (Keys to the Kingdom #1). I haven't read this in uhh probably close to 20 years, and I never finished the series. Let's see if i manage this time!
Ficwise, I've been rereading some VegasPete and catching up on some WIPs that have posted chapters recently. I've just not been feeling like reading much of anything lately.

Watching

The roommate and I watched an episode of Running Man Thailand. God, this show is so fucking funny. I keep laughing so hard that it like loosens all the allergy mucus in my lungs and I keep coughing lol Worth it. Especially since Tay finally won an episode!
The roommate, best friend, and I watched the latest episode of Duang With You. Sweet episode, even with a bit of a sad ending about Qin's past.

The roommate, best friend, and I watched the latest episode of My Romance Scammer. Poor Pai! I'm glad he's figuring out he is loved, just got a few more blocks about Tim to get over.

Writing

Wrote more on the omegaverse ArmTae fic. Got to the point where I thought it would be the end and decided to keep going lol So now maybe halfway through? Or a little more?
Also wrote a poem. Not for NaPoWriMo, I have not been keeping up with that :/

Learning

I decided on my Q2 courses and immediately ran into road blocks. I was going to do a Coursera course I thought was free, but it turned out not to be and half the reading links on the preview were broken so I'm sure as fuck not paying for it. Another course, I was going to tie in with We Need Your Art, but I'm really not feeling that at the moment. So uhh time to regroup?

Witch Hat Atelier anime is out!!!! 🎉

It's sooo beautiful, I'm so happy. Two episodes dropped at once so we got to see a little bit of the other girls in episode 2, I can't wait to watch more... Obviously it will never be quite AS good as Shirahama's masterful work but the animation was so nice, I think they did a really good job with everything. Coco is so cute! And Qifrey my love...

I hate watching ongoing anime ughhh 20 minutes once a week is not enough!!

Also the anime for Marriage Toxin aired this week too which I totally forgot was happening, but I watched the premiere and I think it was pretty good. We'll see how the next few episodes go, the manga genuinely makes me laugh out loud at times so I hope they get the humor right. Basically the premise is that the heir to a clan of Poison Masters needs to get married and have babies so his gay sister isn't forced to (gay ally Geto canon) but he sucks at interacting with women so he enlists the help of a con artist who commits marriage fraud. It's very silly and very fun.

( minor spoilers for the twist revealed in episode 1 )

Anyway! Assuming both WHA and MT hold up to their manga counterparts, I recommend giving them a go! WHA if you like fantasy worlds with strong worldbuilding and cute characters and themes of like, power and responsibility in society and how regular people/minorities get screwed over. MT if you like romance action comedy shounen lol. This is like a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation lmaooo I promise they're both good at very different things!!

Want to practice pixel art more, so I was thinking of doing some animated pixel icons for use on Dreamwidth.

To start, I'm thinking a series of pixel books, each with a different theme and animated elements. I made this first one to test the idea:

Hope is a powerful thing and I am trying to have it.

It's been a long day. Jasper's appointment was today.

They were quite nice. We had a chat. They performed a test on his abdomen because they agreed that before we focus on the hyperthyroidism we need to solve why he isn't eating.

They didn't see anything on the X-ray taken last week of concern, possibly a bit of inflammation but no sign of tumors, however they sent it to their radiology appointment to verify what they saw. So in the next two days we'll find out if there is a very small tumor. But they don't think that's likely.

They took an ultrasound of his belly. No tumors, masses, other bad things. Some inflammation to be aware of once we get him eating. They said he should eat different proteins.

They suggested either in hospital or out of hospital care but we couldn't afford two days hospitalization, testing, monitoring his kidneys and heart along with a feeding tube as that was more than the 5k we have to spend on our Bean. And it would prevent the dental surgery.

So we talked some more and we were told if he didn't eat in 18 hours with the anti nausea, antibiotics (they found sores on his little tongue), appetite stimulant and pain medicine it would be time to let him go.

But! We got home and he demolished about 100 calories from several sources of cat food not half and half (cream/milk blend). Which is half of what he should eat daily for weight gain.

So in the morning, I'll contact the dentist to reschedule his surgery hopefully very soon as he has ulcers now alongside his cavity/gum issues.

I'll also contact a few places to do subq fluids as the big hospital was not able to due to Bean deciding he was absolutely done. After cooperating with them for hours.

He's home. He's eating. I want to believe that we can make it through this.

Jazzy Bean has quit eating and then he's been willing to eat only half and half. And then he's been willing to eat the smallest bite of chicken...

So we did not end up making an appointment for our vet to send him to my other cats and my best friends mom who was my dear Pywhackett's second human and who I sent back to her in 2014 when Py was 25. Such a dear Meezer. I imagine sending all my cats to Penny who will love them and tend them the way she tended all nine of her cats before the cancer took her life much to young more than 20 years ago.

So Ian and I are in agreement that it comes down to tomorrow. Before they do advance testing we want to know if he's already wasting away beyond saving. Because I only want to put him through testing if we are not already too late. If they say he's not to far gone from having a bad appetite, then we will do a test or two. And make our decision from there.

The best case scenario will be he's able to get the dental surgery, the thyroid in June and the lung thing is just inflammation. They give him a tube feeding and then we get the dental surgery done asap so he remembers to eat food.

Then he lives for another few years before crossing the rainbow bridge. Because I believe they are escorted by my other cats that they knew, he gets guided by my tragic ginger son to my other dear cats.

If it's not looking good then we will either have it done at Blue Pearl or make arrangements for our primary vet to send him across the bridge.

I want it to be the best scenario so much.

But a few few times over the last 2 weeks I have had hopes only for things to get worse. So I will be full of gloom and anxiety and grief until we know either way tomorrow.

Cat ownership is not for the weak. They keep breaking my heart and yet I know that if the cat distribution center dropped another senior kitty on my doorstep I would take them in too.

The Finch App is doing a challenge this month where you check in with your friends. The latest check-in is to ask what's bringing your friend(s) joy right now. So, let me know! What is bring you joy these days?

My current joy is Final Fantasy XI. I'm working on my former main character (who I want to make main again eventually) so I got some good gear for her, and started farming telepoints and Survival Guides, both of which make it a lot easier and quicker to get around the world.

I have plans to do Rhapsodies of Vana'diel on her, and if I'm doing *that* then I might as well work on documenting it for my Neocities site. I went back through my logs to find the ones for previous Rhapsodies missions, but I must've played some without using Windower (the third party tool that captures the logs for me, along with doing other neat things). This means I don't have the cutscenes for some of the early missions. What to do? Why, play them on another character!

So I reactivated Valara, my Tarutaru alt. She's adorable! But I forgot that she was pretty much just a mule - her highest job is Red Mage at level 30, and she hasn't unlocked subjobs yet (which you can do at level 18, oops). That's fine, I don't mind playing on her a bit to get her up to scratch.

I also figured that if I'm doing Rhapsodies on her, I should do the Rank 1-5 missions. I've already got Bastok missions documented, and I streamed San d'Oria missions, which leaves Windurst. So I set about last night moving her from Bastok to Windurst. I had to teleport to her home point in Jeuno and then rent a chocobo to ride there. It occurred to me I should have done the raptor mount quest, but too late now - I'll do it later.

Finally made it to Windurst, went to Walls to change my allegiance - nope, wouldn't allow me to do so because I'm on a Bastok mission currently. Oops? At least the Bastok mission takes you to Windurst. I'll knock that out and then switch allegiances.

But that was all I did last night because I was tired from family time. Still, I had fun! Looking forward to more messing around on alts and mains.
