Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you Kathryn Bigelow, the only woman to win an oscar for Best Director in all of 80 years this award ceremony exists (and on top of that, snatching it right out under the nose of her ex-husband James Cameron XD)

Point Break was, back in the mid-1990s, one of the first real action movies I was allowed to see. And while I can't remember every detail, two things stuck with me: (a) Kathryn Bigelow knows how to "draw" characters, to bring them to life in a way that even a bad boy, like Bodhi is, can evoke something akin to sympathy in you. And (b) her action scenes are still one of the best out there. The one chase between Johnny Utah and the guy in the Ronald Reagan mask through pretty much a whole neighbourhood full of fences, tables, walls and other things is worth the watch, trust me ;)
Fast forward 20 years, and we come to the second movie, "The Hurt Locker". Yes, it is a war movie. A very intense one on top of that. And yet, it is also an anti-war movie in some way. If you see how being in a warzone affects every single soldier, puts them in a place where they can't stop the images replaying in their minds in a loop, where they all but succeed in reconnecting with their families, their old life, you wish for real peace on Earth, for an end to all conflicts fought with weapons. Besides, it's still one of Jeremy Renner's best performances ever (next to Jem Coughlin in "The Town", which was a contender for this challenge as well)

Ooooh, very cool! I did not know that!

(I remember seeing Point Break, and being impressed despite myself, but it's been ages, I don't remember any details.)

I really like the extreme close crop on 1, and the nice coloring on all of them!
